This song is about Alex's grandfather John McKee who passed away a few years ago. "Papa John" was an amazing man, full of generous love and a humorous spirit. At his funeral, all of the speeches had a common thread: the unconditional love that John showed his friends and family. His heart overflowed and everyone around him benefitted from his presence. The track is titled "Talking Dogs" because John had a knack for telling jokes, two jokes in particular, both of which involved eloquent canines. During the recording process, Alex brought in the small urn that holds Papa John's ashes into the vocal booth. His loving spirit is all over this song, and we hope that it inspires you to love the world just as he did.
